Sofia is home to the Medical University of Sofia, the National Sports Academy and the University of Forestry.
Plovdiv is the ancient capital of Thrace and the country’s second city after Sofia, known for its well-preserved old town, and was European Capital of Culture in 2019: it combines a compact study environment with several health-related programmes taught in English.
Pleven, in northern Bulgaria, is a regional capital on the Danube plain and a more compact university city, with a February intake for some programmes.
